When does an integrative approach make sense?

In my opinion, there is hardly a situation in which the patient would not benefit from an integrative approach.

However - taking into account my focus - there are some clinical pictures and complaints, which tend to respond very well to a holistic therapy concept.

These include, for example:

  • psychosomatic complaints

  • stress-related complaints

  • chronic fatigue

  • functional complaints of the musculoskeletal system

  • chronic pain

  • psycho-emotional disstress

Moreover, chronic complaints of our internal organs & systems respond effectively to the integrative approach:

  • Cardiovascular system

  • Digestive system

  • Nervous system

  • Immune system

  • Endocrine & reproductive system

Focus of my work

The focus of my work lies in combining classical medical with complementary approaches to health and healing. Hence the name of my practice: 'Integrative Medizin'.

In my medical practice I bridge modern, western science with traditional, eastern wisdom.

During an in-depth anamnesis and examination, the holistic analysis of the body in its entirety is essential. Thus we may get to the root causes and develop a strategy to treat them in the long term. In this way, not only symptoms, but the whole person and individual living conditions are included in the treatment.

The main areas of my work include:

  • Classical homeopathy

  • Yoga therapy

  • Modern stress management

  • Diet and lifestyle advice

Prejudices against yoga therapy:

  1. 'Yoga therapy only helps with harmless diseases!'   The healing spectrum is extremely extensive. Yoga therapy is particularly effective in the case of functional, chronic or psychosomatic illnesses. It can also be used to promote health and to accompany serious illnesses, such as during or after cancer treatment.

  2. 'Yoga is only for very flexible people!' Really everyone can benefit from yoga therapy. Together we will find adaptations that are good for you and support your healing process.

  3. 'Yoga and esotericism belong together!' Yoga therapy focuses on you and your recovery process. You decide for yourself whether and to what extent Eastern philosophy also plays a role.

  4. 'I have to believe in yoga for it to work!' Yoga therapy is not a placebo. Science increasingly understands how extensively yoga therapy supports the healing process of most known diseases. The 'International Association of Yoga Therapists' (IAYT) has summarized some interesting studies under this link .

  5. 'Yoga therapy is time consuming!' To experience the positive effects of yoga therapy even 10 minutes a day help. We will adapt the therapy to your temporal possibilities and in particular make sure that the exercises can be easily integrated into your everyday life.

Prejudices against homeopathy:

  1. 'The effect of homeopathy is due to the placebo effect, as it does not contain any detectable active ingredient!' This is surely the most widespread prejudice against homeopathy. And it's true - from the potency of C12 and higher, the agent has been diluted so much that, according to the laws of chemistry, no more molecules of the original substance can be detected. However, the healing principle of homeopathy is different from that of allopathy*: The remedy contains characteristic 'information' that supports the healing process. Through the production of the homeopathic remedies (dilution and shaking), this information is passed on from the molecules of the basic substance to the carrier substance (sugar or water). This process even amplifies the effect. If the right remedy has been found, the corresponding information can have a profound effects on body, mind and soul.

  2. 'There are no serious, scientific studies in homeopathy!' Fortunately, this has not been the case for a long time! Since the homeopathic medical system is based on an individualised therapy - this means that a remedy is not prescribed according to individual diagnoses, but rather the entirety of the symptoms plays a role in finding the remedy - it is difficult if not impossible to get grade 1A (double-blind and randomised) in studies. My teacher in homeopathy, Prof. George Vithoulkas, regularly publishes scientific papers and clinical studies with his 'International Academy of Classical Homoepathy' (IACH).

  3. 'Taking homeopathic remedies is cumbersome!' The intake is fundamentally different from allopathic* medicines, but it is not cumbersome. The globules (small sugar balls) are placed under the tongue to melt. Drops are usually dissolved in a small amount of water and taken in spoons. I will discuss with you what exactly you should pay attention to when taking the remedy.

  4. 'Homeopathy does not work in severe physical or mental illnesses!' Classical homeopathy is a self-contained medical system. This means that it provides relief for milder acute complaints, such as a cold, but can also be used effectively for the long-term therapy of severe chronic diseases such as rheumatism or depression. With the exception of surgical interventions, homeopathy can support the healing process of almost all clinical pictures: either preventively, curative, palliative or accompanying an allopathic* therapy.

* Allopathy : Homeopathy follows the healing approach of treating 'like with like'. With allopathy, I am referring to all approaches that do not follow this principle. Mainly medications from conventional medicine or phytotherapeutics.
